What are weighting coefficients?

These are special numerical values that determine how important each NMT subject is for a particular specialty.
In simple words:
  • If you are applying for a technical specialty, mathematics or physics will have the greatest impact on your competitive score.
  • If you choose a humanitarian direction, the Ukrainian language or Ukrainian history may have a higher coefficient.
The higher the coefficient of a subject, the more it affects the final score.

Weighting coefficients by specialties

The correct choice of NMT subjects and their weighting coefficients is crucial for admission on a budget or contract basis. In this table, you will find the current coefficients for all fields of education approved by the Ministry of Education of Ukraine in 2025. Take these data into account when preparing for the test to maximize your competitive score and increase your chances of getting into your desired university.

Competition Score Calculation Rules 2025

Competition Score (CS)=К1, К2, К3, К4 — коєфіцієнт до предметів НМТ відповідно обраної спеціальності. П1, П2, П3, П4 — отриманний бал за предмети, при складанні НМТ. К4max — найбільший коєфіцієнт, серед всіх предметів на вибір, за обраною спеціальністю. КТ — оцінка за творчий конкурс (для тих спеціальностей, де він потрібен для вступу). ТК — коефіцієнт творчого конкурсу. ОУ — бал за шкалою від 0 до 10 за успішне закінчення в рік вступу підготовчих курсів на базі ЗВО (для вступу до нього на спеціальності, яким держава надає підтримку)

К1, К2, К3, К4- NMT subject coefficients for the specialty

П1, П2, П3, П4 - NMT scores for corresponding subjects

К4max - the highest coefficient for elective subjects in the chosen specialty

КТ - creative competition score (for applicable specialties)

ТК - creative competition coefficient

ОУ - score from 0-10 for university preparatory courses (only for state-priority specialties)

📌 The provided formula applies to NMT 2025 results. The CS calculation formula for previous years remains unchanged, but some subject coefficient values have been adjusted.

Additionally, the result is multiplied by regional (RC) and industry (IC) coefficients.

Regional coefficient (RC) depends on university location:

  • 1.07 — for universities in Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv regions;
  • 1.04 — for universities in Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk regions, and Bucha district of Kyiv region;
  • 1.00 — for universities in other regions.

Industry coefficient (IC):

  • 1.02 — for applications with priority 1 and 2 for state-priority specialties;
  • 1.00 — in other cases

If the final CS exceeds 200, it is rounded down to 200.
